The tight-knit community of Durrow was stunned in September with the sad death of Shane Walsh, a young man in his early 30s who passed away following a short illness leaving behind a young family.
In tough times though there’s nothing like tight-knit communities to rally around and support those left behind.
And a group of Shane’s friends have come together to organise a night in his memory.
The ‘Friends of Shane Walsh’ have organised a music and auction charity night on Saturday, November 30, in the Castle Arms Hotel in Durrow.
Tickets, priced at €15, are now on sale – and as well as a range of really good raffle prizes, there will also be an auction on the night, most of it very impressive sports memorabilia.
Music on the night will be by Abbeyfolk, and DJ Sheppo!
Auction items will include:
- 7 nights in Sunset Beach
- 2 Electric Picnic Tickets
- 2 All Ireland final Tickets
- Signed Ireland jersey
- Signed Tipperary jersey
- Signed Laois jersey
- And much more
Among the prizes will be:
- Overnight stay for 2 at the K Club
- Overnight stay for 2 at Mount Juliet
- Overnight stay for 2 at Castleknock Hotel, Dublin
- Overnight stay for 2 at the Heritage Hotel, Killenard
Tickets can be bought from Justin Brophy (087 7631967), Steven Thomas (086 3752008), Niall Brophy (087 7501732), Ger Alley (086 2022556) and Sheila Clancy (087 7769567).
Doors will open at 8.30pm and all proceeds will go to Shane’s family.
