A Laois doctor has lodged a planning application for a housing development beside his clinic.
Dr David Booth of the Cedar Clinic on the Mountmellick Road in Portlaoise submitted the plans recently.
He is looking to build 55 new houses and apartments on a patch of land down past the clinic.
The proposed development would be accessed from the existing roundabout on the N80 to the eastern boundary of the site.
The 55 houses will be broken down into a range of two and three bedroom units:
20 two-storey semi-detached three-bedroom homes, six two-storey end of terrace three-bedroom homes, six two-storey mid terrace two-bedroom homes, two two-storey semi detached two-bedroom homes and three two-storey detached three-bedroom homes.
The proposed development also contains three three-story apartment blocks.
They will be comprised of 15 two-bedroom apartments and three one-bedroom apartments.
