Fair play to PJ, Niamh and all the team in Kavanagh’s Bar in Portlaoise.
They scooped ‘Best Live Music Venue’ prize for the Eastern Region last month and went one better last night by winning the national award at the Pub of the Year Awards.
They lined up among 63 other Regional Winners at a ceremony last night in the RDS Concert Hall, Merrion Road, Ballsbridge in Dublin.
The Portlaoise pub had many live bands preforming throughout the year including Jason’s Guitar school, people from Music Generation Laois and the Laois School of Music and also Colm-Kavanagh’s Headbangers Nights!
The pub also won awards in 2018, taking home the title Innovative Pub of the Year.
Kavanagh’s will now receive a prize package to the value of €20,000 comprising of management training and media coverage to help them develop their business.
Taking to Facebook last night, Kavanagh’s said: “As Miley would say, ‘Well Holy God’
“Don’t know what to say … thank you!!!”
A second Laois pub, the Fishersman’s Inn in Fisherstown, was also at the awards last night.
They won the Best Outdoor Venue in the East Region but were beaten in the race for National honours by The Courtyard from Cork.
