A part of the M7 in Laois is closed this morning following an incident.
AA Roadwatch say that an overturned truck has blocked the road and has forced its closure.
They say: “The M7 is closed northbound between J17 Portlaoise Centre and J16 Portlaoise East due to an overturned truck.
“Traffic is being diverted through Portlaoise itself, so expect delays in the town.”
A local motorist told LaoisToday: “I was trying to get from Mountrath to Portlaoise and the traffic is at a standstill.
“There is a tailback all the way into Ballymacken so traffic is really heavy.”
Gardai are at the scene and are directing traffic but the northbound lane is set to be closed for up to two hours.
It is unclear if anyone has been hurt following the incident.
