Abbeyleix South National School pupils were crowned ‘Best Mixed Media Award’ at the FÍS Film Awards Ceremony.
The ceremony took place in in the Helix, Dublin on Thursday, November 13.
FÍS is a film project for primary schools that introduces children to aspects of the film-making process.
Their film ‘Breaking News’ was based on the novel ‘James and the Giant Peach’ by Ronald Dahl which the children had been studying in English class.
It was a wonderful experience for the pupils to be part of a film production.
The school would like to give a special mention to parent, Richard Reid, who ran the project and guided the children through the whole process of making this film.
They all had an important role to play, both behind the scenes and on stage.
The children learned so much about the process of film making.
They received the red carpet treatment upon arrival at the Helix and the Award Ceremony was filmed like a live TV broadcast.
A wonderful and memorable day in the lives of pupils, teachers, SNA’s and parents of Abbeyleix South National School.
