What a great send off!
There was great celebrations recently when the staff of Portlaoise College came together to acknowledge the retirement of one of its long serving members and local person Regina Brennan.
Accompanied by her husband Louis, daughters Rena and Louise and son in law Killian, a large number of staff including some past members gathered in Kavanaghs Portlaoise to mark the occasion.
Regina worked for almost twenty years in administration of which the last 10 or so years were between Portlaoise College and Portlaoise Institute on the Mountrath road.
Describing Regina the College Principal Noel Daly said she was “one of the most dedicated and committed staff members that was always solution focused in wanted to see the school develop and grow”.
Mr Daly then went on to say that “working in education for all those years Regina was herself a true educator as she always got the best out of the people she worked with and formed great friendships along the way”
Regina was a very knowledgeable and friendly member of the administration staff.
Originating from Borrisokane she never forgot where she was from particularly when Tipperary were playing in the hurling.
Although she was retiring Mr Daly acknowledged that “she was only retiring from the job and that she was not retiring from being Regina.”
“She is still Regina and a good person never retires”.
Regina thanked everyone for coming and for how much she enjoyed her time working in Portlaoise College/Institute and in particular for the friends she made along the way.
The social committee then made a presentation to Regina on behalf of the staff.
The celebrations continued into the late hours ensuring she got a great send off.
We wish Regina all the best in the future.
