The Harps 3-12 Borris-Kilcotton 0-16
2013 Laois MHC Final
At the end of the last decade and the start of this one, Borris-Kilcotton started appearing in minor finals each year like clockwork.
In all they played in six minor finals in a row, winning four-in-a-row from 2009 to 2012 and then losing two more in 2013 and 2014.
It was that consistent spell of producing quality underage teams that led to a first senior final appearance in 2013 and a first title in 2016 – and many of those same players are still involved as they face into this year’s senior final again on Sunday.
The team that stopped them doing five-in-a-row, however, are also in final action this weekend, albeit at the lower grade.
The Harps needed a replay to get the job done, eventually prevailing by 3-12 to 0-16 after two really good battles.
Conor Deegan got 2-2 for The Harps while Ronan Delahunty added five points from frees.
For Borris-Kilcotton, Daire Quinlan was their top scorer with six points from frees with Joe Campion hitting 0-4.
