Open since September, Akayu, a Sushi noodle bar, has already become a popular spot for diners in Portlaoise.
Initially there was some confusion about previous the name of the restaurant Okayu as there was a restaurant of the same name in Dublin.
Speaking to management on the mix up they say, “We are so sorry for any confusion, it was totally unintentional we have since changed the name of the restaurant to Akayu and hope it doesn’t cause any more confusion as we are totally separate from the restaurant in Dublin.”
With stylish interiors and a mouth watering menu the restaurant has already established a regular clientele and while their sushi selection is excellent there is something on the menu for everyone from noodle dishes to curries. All sushi dishes can even be offered with grilled fish options.
They are now offering a different lunch special each day of the week showcasing their delicious range of offerings.
“We do a lot more than just sushi, we have a number of different dishes to suit every taste with a large range on our noodle menu as well as Thai curry options and even with our raw sushi menu we offer a grilled option on each item so it’s a good way for people to experiment.”
They are now offering a takeaway menu which is guaranteed to have something for all tastes.
All Akayu’s vegetables and fish are sourced from local suppliers also and they are keen to become a community establishment.
While they don’t offer a delivery service at the moment they are open for take away collection and their menu can also be found on their website, you can find them here on Facebook.
