Laois Hurlers Golfing Society hosted their Captains (Broghan Reilly) Prize, on Saturday last, in the beautiful surroundings of the Heath Golf Club.
The day was well supported and despite the windy conditions, which proved tricky for most participants, some exceptional scores were recorded.
Local boy Joe Keenan proved a worthy winner, defying the elements, shooting a very impressive 40 points.
He was closely followed home by Gerry Kavanagh and Paddy Ging on 38 points – Gerry claiming second spot with a better back nine.
Seamus Cahill secured fourth spot with Sean Kelly fifth.
Other prizes were hotly contested with Alex Stenson clinching the Nearest the Pin while our Captain Broghan with a stunning drive down the 18th captured the Long Drive prize.
The 1st and 2nd nines were won by Noel Browne and John Taylor respectively.
All in all, a very enjoyable day.
The next Outing for the Laois society of golfers takes place in Mountrath on Saturday October 26th.
