Thursday August 23 saw 144 young boys and girls starting their secondary school journeys at Portlaoise College.
Students were greeted by their Year Head Mr Murphy who told students and their parents that all teachers at Portlaoise College are there to support them for the next five or six years.
Mr Daly welcomed parents and students.
He reinforced the ethos of Portlaoise College of being committed to providing all students with a high quality holistic education that enables them to achieve their maximum potential in an engaging, challenging and student centred environment.
Each new first Year at Portlaoise College was assigned a Meitheal Leader who ensure that they have a smooth transition into Portlaoise College and assist them in any way during their first year at our school.
“This influx of new students has resulted to a nearly a 20 percent growth in the total number of students attending the school.
“This growth is expected to continue for Portlaoise College,” said deputy principal Keith McClearn.
