Brought to you in association with Joe Mallon Motors Portlaoise
Our next episode of the LaoisToday Podcast is here and it is possibly our best one to date.
We were joined in LaoisToday towers by three men who have helped bring great joy to people from all over the county in recent weeks.
Mark Kavanagh, Matthew Whelan and John Lennon joined Steven Miller and Alan Hartnett to reflect on a breakthrough year for hurling in Laois.
The trio all played integral roles in the side this year as they went on an unprecedented run which only finished on Sunday in Croke Park.
Laois had not played in GAA HQ for 14 years before they reached the Joe McDonagh Cup final earlier this year where they defeated Westmeath.
Then two weeks ago, they shocked the GAA world by dumping Dublin, who had previously knock-out defeated 2018 All-Ireland finalists Galway, out of the championship in O’Moore Park.
The journey took the lads back to Croke Park last weekend where they went toe-to-toe with Tipperary for a place in the All-Ireland semi final.
It wasn’t to be in the end but the lads lost nothing in defeat and they joined us to reflect on that and the year as a whole.
We also asked our followers on Instagram to provide us with questions for the lads to answer and they came up trumps – with even a few of their inter-county colleagues getting in on the act.
