The annual Old Fort Festival brought history, live music, fun events for families and artisan food right to our doorsteps in Laois over the course of three highly-entertaining days.
With the historic element, plenty of family-friendly activities and live music in the Old Fort Protector – complete with a huge marquee – the fourth hosting of the Old Fort was also blessed with good weather.
It marked Medieval Times being brought to life in an entertaining way to capture the imaginations of adults and children alike.
The event also dovetailed nicely with the Laois hurlers’ appearance in the Joe McDonagh final – with many supporters returning back from Croke Park to finish off the weekend with the festival.
On the music front, Friday night saw Abbaesque, Qween & The AJs take to the main stage from 7pm.
Headliners King Kong Company, Pogueology, The Valves and The Jury played the Old Fort Stage from 5pm on Sunday.
Sunday marked another great family day as the free street entertainment continued from 12-6 with Street Theatre, Giant Games and Face Painting.
Bringing to the festival to a close with an epic finish on Sunday night were Smash Hits, Transmitter, Strength in Numbers and the Dooley Brothers.
We were out and about over the weekend and managed to get some great pictures of the goings-on:
