The blue and white carpet was rolled out for the Laois senior hurling manager Eddie Brennan as he visited one lucky Laois school today.
Our Lady’s Meadow in Durrow displayed a grand welcome to the Laois manager and former Kilkenny player as they celebrated Laois getting to the first final in Croke Park since 1985.
They even presented the Laois manager with a hamper and sang a rendition of the popular ‘The 2 Johnnies’ song, ‘When I play for county’.
The day was organised for children receiving Irish language awards. Children who managed to achieve ‘Fáinnes’ even received a cert today.
Fáinne is the name of a badge worn to show fluency in, or a willingness to speak, the Irish Language.
Teacher Lorraine O’Shea commented that the level of Irish and enthusiasm was at a brilliant level in Our Lady’s Meadow Durrow this year.
