Music Generation Laois played three concerts at three different Laois schools recently.
Scoil Bhride Rathdowney, Scoil Bhride Knockmay and Rath NS were visited by the talented musicians on Tuesday June 11.
Music Generation Laois explained: “We started in Scoil Bhride, Rathdowney with a showcase of our strings programme led by John Davidson.
“This concert also included a variety of local talent – singing, jokes and poems. There were gorgeous presentations afterwards from the school garden including a beautiful sunflower.
“Then onto another Scoil Bhride, in Knockmay, Portlaoise, where our music-rich school programme was showcased from 1st class to 6th, featuring Early Years Music, Singing, Violin and Ukulele led by Nuala Kelly, John Davidson, Carl Rochford, Lorna McLaughlin and Terry Byrne.
“It was a logistical feat and a musical feast. Our music-rich school initiative is supported by Creative Ireland Laois.
“Finally, the day ended in Rath National School, Ballybrittas, with a harp concert in the newly opened school extension. These students are taught by Siobhan Buckley.
“Well done to all the young musicians and their tutors. Thank you to all the teachers/ principals/ school staff and parents for making music accessible in your schools.
“Special thanks to Nuala Kelly for putting together today’s showcase in Scoil Bhride, Portlaoise.”
