Saturday night saw different groups of people come together to present two cheques for Dillon Payne, a Mountmellick teenager who is battling Hodgkin’s lymphoma.
€13,950 was raised for Dillon. €500 was raised by Bank of Ireland Mountmellick, while €850 was funded by Turley’s Pub Mountmellick.
Dillon, who attends Mountmellick Community School, is currnetly sitting his Junior Cert. The young man is undertaking all honours subjects, despite not being able to attend school since February.
On Saturday night, Dillon and his mother Olivia visited Turley’s Pub in Mountmellick for the cheque presentation with members of the local GAA and soccer clubs in attendance.
This follows a fantastic fundraising event held at Mountmellick GAA Grounds for Dillon.
Portarlington Rugby Club, Mountmellick GAA Club, Mountmellick United FC and The Rock GAA club came together on Sunday, May 5, to hold a fun day.
The day featured a barbecue, a teenage disco and a big raffle as crowds turned out in large numbers to support the popular Mountmellick teenager.
