The sun even made an appearance for Kilminchy estate’s first ever community event on Saturday May 18.
Kilminchy, on the outskirts of Portlaoise, is the largest estate in Laois with over 700 houses.
The event at the Kilminchy lakes attracted families for face painting and a nature walk where children looked out for bird and insect life, trees and wildflowers.
The Irish Wildlife Trust (Laois/Offaly Branch) installed insect and bird boxes made by Portlaoise Men’s Shed.
The event was held to highlight the Green Infrastructure Plan that has been developed for Kilminchy.
It has proposals for a multi-sport ball court, running/ walking routes around the estate, a boardwalk at the lakes, for community gardens and much more.
Kilminchy Homeowners are holding an EGM in the Killeshin Hotel on Thursday June 6 at 7.30pm.
Members of Kilminchy Homeowners will have the opportunity to approve the Green Infrastructure Plan on the night.
The plan could see massive investment in the estate and it is hoped that the plan will be unanimously approved on the night.
