Slieve Bloom Macra’s very own Sheila Fitzptrick will be representing Laois in the Blue Jean Country Queen Festival 2019.
The Blue Jean Country Queen Festival is organised annually by Meath Macra na Feirme and takes place in Athboy, Co. Meath
on June Bank Holiday.
Sheila comes from Clonaslee, where she attended both primary and secondary school. Sheila then continued her studies in Sligo where she trained in Intellectual Disability Nursing.
Shelia first joined Slieve Bloom Macra in 2016, after attending a meeting at the Swan Bar. She first became secretary of her local club and then went to be secretary at county level.
Sheila states that she has ‘never looked back’ since joining Macra and that it has developed her in many ways, from increasing her confidence to increasing her social circle, to name a few.
Sheila also mentions that ‘Macra is a club for everyone, whether you are a farmer or just live in rural Ireland’. She most enjoys the socializing element and making new friends.
Sheila is looking forward to representing Laois at the festival. Laois Macra wish Sheila the best of luck next weekend.
Macra na Feirme is a voluntary organisation for individuals aged from 17 to 35 years old. The organisation consists of various activities including agriculture, sports, travel, public speaking, community involvement and performing arts.
