Sports clubs and organisations across Laois are set to receive €151,070 for 12 local projects.
Portlaoise Gymnastics Club received the largest portion of funding, with €39,272 going to the club.
Another Gymnastics club, Mountmellick, was granted €34,800 while the Stradbally, Vicarstown and Timahoe Canoeing and Kayaking Club received €15,624.
Among the GAA and LGFA clubs to receive funds were Castletown GAA with €5,861, Shanahoe Ladies Gaelic Football Club with €1,474,St Conleths L.G.F.C. with €4,750 and Park/Ratheniska Ladies GAA Club with €3,939.
Laois Marlins Swimming Club gained €13,141 while the
Woodenbridge Paddlers Association received €14,209.
Other clubs who received funding includes; Abbey Bowls with €1,238, Laois Archery with €5,300, Laois Kayak and Canoe Club with €11,462.
The funding for Laois is part of €8.5m being allocated nationally from the latest round of Sports Capital Equipment Grants.
The grants are for clubs who applied to the 2018 Sports Capital Programme for equipment only, with no other proposed developments in their application.
About 1,500 further non-equipment only applications from across the country are still being processed by the Department of Sport and will be allocated in September.
These include applicants who applied for funding for equipment and other developments.
