Due to the demand for places at annual Darkness into Light 5km events within the county, The Swan answered the call in becoming the third area to host the event for Pieta House this year.
For it’s first ever Darkness into Light event, eager attendees met at the Hall in The Swan from 3.45am began the walk at 4.15am sharp.
The walk involves two laps of the new walking track, a walk down through village and housing estates, onto Timahoe Road and back. To finish, there will be two more laps of the track.
Participants were treated to tea and coffee in The Swan hall afterwards.
Funds raised from Darkness Into Light help keep Pieta House’s counselling services free to those in suicidal crisis, people who engage in self-harm, and those bereaved by suicide.
