There is deep sadness in Castletown and surrounding areas this evening at the news of the heartbreaking death of Aoife Mullaney (nee Doocey) at the young age of 35.
Originally from Aughafan, just off the N7 near Castletown, Aoife was an Irish and French teacher in St Fergal’s in Rathdowney.
Married to former Laois hurling captain Paddy Mullaney, the couple had two young children – son Cormac and daughter Eadaoin. Aoife had been sick for some time.
The Mullaney and Doocey families are both deeply embedded in the local Castletown community.
Aoife’s father Billy only passed away in February of this year.
Aoife is also survived by her mother Betty (nee Phelan), sister Lisa, mother-in-law Trisha, father-in-law PJ, brothers-in-law James, Ryan and Colm, extended family, relatives, neighbours and friends.
Reposing at her home in Campclone this Thursday afternoon from 2pm with rosary in the house at 8pm.
Removal on Friday morning to arrive at St Edmund’s Church, Castletown for Funeral Mass at 12 noon.
Burial immediately afterwards in Churchtown Cemetery, Castletown.
House private on Friday morning. Family flowers only please, donations, if desired, to Laois Hospice and Cuisle Centre. (Donation box in place at House and Church).
