Mountmellick GAA club grounds was a hive of activity on Sunday afternoon as the local community rallied around for a young teenager who is currently undergoing cancer treatment
Dillon Payne, a Junior Cert student in Mountmellick Community School, is being treated for Hodgkin’s lymphoma and there was a very successful fundraiser in the GAA grounds on Sunday.
Portarlington Rugby Club, Mountmellick GAA Club, Mountmellick United FC and The Rock GAA club came together this Sunday to hold a fun day at the Mountmellick GAA grounds.
The organisers had initially planned to hold rugby and soccer events but these have now been abandoned following a Donegal club’s brush with the GAA authorities in Donegal.
Instead, only GAA activities will take place with competitions for U-17s and Over-35s.
The day also featured a barbecue, a teenage disco and a big raffle.
Well done to all the organisers!
