Today a Laois TD confirmed that the Department of Education & Skills have approved new Special Autism (ASD) Primary classes/units within the county.
These new classes will be located at St. Fintan’s Boys School, Mountrath, Barnashrone National School and Mountmellick Boys National School.
TD Sean Fleming made the announcement today.
“This is indeed very good news for all families who have been trying to get these special classes as over many years now insufficient resources were made available for children in these situations.
“Early intervention is the key and it can improve the long term situation for all involved.
The Fianna Fáil Deputy said he looks forward to these classes being set up, ‘as urgently as possible’.
“I look forward to these classes being set up as urgently as possible which I know will be of great benefit to the children involved and all the parents and families will be fully supportive of these new arrangements,” he concluded.
