The students of Portlaoise College are nearly ready to go to print with another edition of the school yearbook.
The yearbook will go on sale on May 16 at the school awards night and will be the culmination of a year’s work by a group of dedicated TY students.
With the cover designed and most of the material written, photographs taken and interviews conducted it is now editing time for these budding journalists.
The front cover was a piece of work done by a 6th year student, Oliwia Malast, representing feelings that most leaving cert students across the country feel.
Oliwia said: “The clock and time is against you!
“I wanted to show the struggles of studying for the leaving cert, a friend of mine that really studies a lot was my inspiration.”
The editing team of students have worked tirelessly putting articles together.
Student Kevin Dillon has written extensively, having done match reports for the Leinster GAA website in his spare time.
He found being part of the yearbook ‘a great experience and another learning curve for me’.
Jade O’Shea Brennan commented on the ‘time and effort put into the yearbook makes it so satisfying to see it all come together’.
The other students involved – Caoimhe Dunne, Claire Lynch, Katie O’Reilly and Niamh Bowe have really pulled together and worked as a team and the fruits of their efforts are being seen now.
The Portlaoise College 2018-19 yearbook will be on sale from Thursday May 16 with an official launch at the school’s end of year awards ceremony.
