Laois Public Participation Network in partnership with the Irish Heart Foundation hosted ‘Hands for Life’ CPROn recently.
The event took place on Thursday April 4 in the Killeshin Hotel, Portlaoise.
105 members of Laois PPN took part in Community CPR Training. This programme, supported by Abbott and ESB Networks, offers FREE CPR training in communities across Ireland.
Every day in Ireland 13 people die from a cardiac arrest and around 70% of these happen at home.
Unfortunately, just 6.5% of people in Ireland who have a cardiac arrest in a non-hospital setting survive.
CPR is an easy skill to learn and once you know how to do it, you could save someone’s life.
In the next two years with the support of Abbott and ESB Networks – The Irish Heart Foundation we’ll train an extra 100,000 people in the life-saving skill of CPR.
Laois PPN were delighted to be able to offer this free course to their members, and thank the Irish Heart Foundation for providing such an invaluable skill to their members.
Photographer Denis Byrne was there on the day and he captured some great pictures.
