Laois households among the lowest disposable incomes in the country

Laois has placed 20th of 26 counties in terms of the average household disposable income per person in the Republic of Ireland.

This is according to latest figures released by the CSO on Wednesday, April 3. The figures gathered relate to disposable income in 2016.

Indeed while the report states that the average state income is graded at 100, Laois falls significantly below this with 85.69.

The only counties which fall below Laois on the scale are Longford, Offaly, Monaghan, Roscommon, Mayo and Donegal.

Donegal is the county with the lowest average household disposable income per person in the results, with 77.01.

Dublin, Limerick and Kildare are the only counties where per capita disposable income exceeded the state average in 2016.

Dublin is at the top of the table, with an average household disposable income being 118.38.

Neighbours Kildare and Limerick are also above the average disposable household income, with Kildare’s being 101.07 and Limerick’s being 106.5.

In comparison to our other neighbours, Carlow averages 96.63, Kilkenny 91.71, Offaly on 82.56 and Tipperary 96.33.
