A man has been arrested following a high speed chase in Laois last night.
The Irish Sun are reporting that a man in his 30s was arrested following the incident.
Gardai attempted to stop the driver on multiple occasions but were unsuccessful.
The whole thing started a man rammed into the back of a squad car and sped through roadworks – failing to stop when instructed to by cops.
The incident happened around 2.30am last night in parts of Laois, Carlow and Dublin where it is believed it lasted around 40 minutes.
One man, 30s, was arrested by gardai in the aftermath of the chase and is currently being quizzed at Tallaght Garda Station.
He is alleged to have caused criminal damage in Killinarden Heights in Tallaght, Co Dublin.
It is understood he was apprehended near Portlaoise.
A spokesperson for An Garda Siochana told the Irish Sun: “A male in his 30s was arrested near Carn, Portlaoise shortly after 3am this morning following an incident of criminal damage in Killinarden Heights in Tallaght earlier.
“He earlier failed to stop for Gardai. He is currently detained at Tallaght Garda Station.”
