Another brilliant event from Generation Music Laois.
Music Generation Laois hosted a performance by The Paul McIntyre Trio in Laois Music Centre, Church Avenue, Portlaoise last week.
This intimate concert featured jazz standards from the Trio of professional musicians, led by Paul McIntyre (keys), with Dave Redmond on double bass and Andy O’Farrell on drums, and also performances from students of Music Generation Laois.
Speaking after the performance, Rosa Flannery, Co-ordinator of Music Generation Laois said: ‘We had a wonderful evening of jazz in Laois Music Centre
“Under the leadership of our keyboard tutor Paul McIntyre, professional musicians and students performed independently and in collaboration, and the audience were enthralled.
“What a brilliant concert!”
Music Generation Laois is a performance music education programme for children and young people and is based in the Arts Office of Laois County Council.
It delivers engaging music programmes in schools and centre’s across numerous programme strands – Singing, Orchestral, Harp, Trad, Stampede (world) Drumming, The Music Box, – a music programme for children with special needs, and a School of Rock and Pop.
Since it was established in 2012, Music Generation Laois has invested in a large-scale instrument bank, and Young people have access to subsidised tuition and instruments, augmented by ensemble membership, master classes, workshops and concert attendance and performances.
