Emergency services are at the scene of an accident outside Portlaoise this afternoon.
The incident occurred on the M7 outhbound between J18 Portlaoise West and J19 M8, just before the toll plaza.
AA Roadwatch are reporting that ’emergency services are en route to an overturned car’.
They say that traffic is extremely heavy on approach.
An eyewitness described the traffic as being at ‘a standstill’.
The eyewitness said: “Traffic is at a standstill in both lanes heading away from Portlaoise towards the toll plaza.
“Fire brigade and ambulances are also there at present.”
It is unclear at this stage if anyone has been injured.
