Laois Gardai have issued a warning to all motorists to regularly check the condition of their tyres.
It comes as members of the force had to help a motorist who experienced a blowout on the M7.
Gardai say this is a safety measure as a blow out is an extremely dangerous thing to happen – especially when travelling at high speeds.
Gardai also detected two motorists travelling at 166KPH on M7.
This comes off the back of a number of incidents in recent days.
Gardai say: “Divisional Roads Policing Units in Laois and Offaly over last 48 hours have stopped drivers drawing unsafe loads in Offaly and on the M7stopped a driver travelling at 171KPH in a 120KPH zone.
“They also stopped a driver travelling at 120KPH in a 50KPH zone in Ballybrittas.
“All drivers will be receiving appropriate fines and making court appearances.”
