For this week’s Moment in Time, we looked back to the archives towards the Portlaoise GAA Juvenile awards night in 2008.
Groups including the U7 and U8s, right up to the U14s were celebrated on the evening, which included footballing guests such as Cahir Healy and Colm ‘Woolie’ Parkinson.
There are a few familiar faces in the archives, as some of the then juveniles have gone on to play at both senior and senior ‘A’ grades for the club today.
Portlaoise GAA also held an adult awards night featuring many of the players seen below on New Year’s Eve 2018.
In 2018, the senior footballers claimed the Jack Delaney Cup for the 11th time in the last 12 years as they defeated O’Dempsey’s in October.
Meanwhile, the club’s hurlers enjoyed a bumper year with two championship successes.
The Junior C’s defeated Ballyfin in the championship final before the Senior A’s did likewise.
Players and members assembled in the Killeshin Hotel on New Year’s Eve to celebrate their success.
