Two guests joining us for our Christmas video interview series were 2018 Laois ladies captain Mags McEvoy and county and club teammate Clare Conlon.
2018 has been a year of great highs and lows for the two Sarsfields women on the footballing scene. From winning the Leinster intermediate title with Laois, to losing the Leinster senior club final against Foxrock-Cabinteely.
2018 captain Mags announced her retirement from inter-county football on the video, which may have come as a shock to many.
The Sarsfields defender stated that 2018 was a a great year personally, but cited work and other commitments as her reason for retiring from the inter-county scene.
Mags first donned the blue and white jersey at the age of 14 in 2001.
Mags appeared in the video alongside teammate Clare Conlon – who called for the LGFA and the GAA to come together to benefit Ladies players.
The sharpshooter made the plea for ladies teams to have more access to facilities such as the LOETB Centre of Excellence in the in video.
