Back in October, a parcel of land in Stradbally went for a lot of money.

A huge package of land and a farmhouse has been sold at an auction in Laois recently.
€880,000 was the price received for 47.3 acres of land at Ballythomas, Stradbally.
This included a three bedroom traditional farmhouse residence and the price works out at €18,604 per acre.
The house is said suitable for any agricultural or Equine Enterprise, with two stone outbuildings on a large yard area.
The selling agent was Joseph Coogan and the auction took place at Ballycomey House, Castlecomer on Friday, September 28.
The land is currently split into a number of individual fields but all join and have road frontage, with site potential (subject to planning).
The residence is serviced by a local group water scheme and is heated by an A rated outdoor oil fired boiler central heating system,and solid fuel stove in kitchen.
The lands were sold in two lots. Lot 1 comprised a three bedroom traditional farmhouse residence – Ballythomas House – which made €235,000
Lot 4 was made up of 41.7 acres of prime agricultural lands and it sold for €645,000.
