St Stephen’s Day means one thing for the town of Abbeyleix and those involved in the Laois Hunt.
Just as it is every St Stephen’s Day, the town of Abbeyleix was taken over by horses, hounds and horsemen and women today for the annual Laois Hunt event.
Among the onlookers included last year’s Cathaoirleach of Laois County Council Padraig Fleming with mild weather conditions on the day.
Meanwhile, up the road in Ballyroan, hundreds took part in the Ballyroan-Abbey GAA Club’s Christmas 5km Family Fun Run which was organised in conjunction with the local Ballyroan-Abbeyleix and District Athletic Club.
Clonaslee, Durrow and Gathabawn were among some the places that held organised walks or runs.
Laois Hospice held their annual St Stephen’s Day walk in Clonaslee to massive crowds yet again this year.
Another annual charity walk and a great excuse to get out and about was the Gathabawn Loop walk. This year’s charities were Lisdowney Saint Vincent De Paul and Gathabawn Rural Development Group.
The Hunt came through the town from the Durrow side and our photographer Julie-Anne Miller was on hand to capture a selection of great images on another great day for the Laois Hunt.
