A 31-year-old man has been killed in an early morning car crash in Laois today.
A collision was reported to Portlaoise Gardai at 9.10am this morning at Ballybrophy, Borris in Ossory.
It subsequently transpired that the injuries sustained by the driver, a male, 31, were fatal.
He was pronounced dead at the scene and his body was removed to the Midland Regional Hospital in Portlaoise for Post Mortem examination. The local Coroner has been notified.
This stretch of road was closed to facilitate an examination by Garda Forensic Collision Investigators but has since reopened.
He was the sole occupant of the vehicle and it was a single vehicle accident.
Gardai would be interested in speaking to any persons travelling on the R435 between Borris in Ossory and Rathdowney between 8.30am and 9.30am that have any information.
Also Gardai are interested if any Dash Cam footage is available from any vehicle on the R435 between 8.30am and 9.30am.
