Laois is the most expensive place to rent a property in the Midlands.
According to a newest Residential Tenancies Board (RTB) report, the average cost per month is nearly €830 euro, a tenth higher than last year.
This is compared to prices in Offaly which climbed by seven percent to €709, while Westmeath rent rose more than five percent, bringing their average to almost €750.
Director of the RTB Rosalind Carroll spoke on Midlands 103.
“Rents are still going up. We’ve seen some reduction in quarterly growth but overall obviously there’s affordability issues that still remain within the market.
“Rent pressure zones are having some impact in terms of existing tenancies.
“The third thing it tells us is that the number of homes is beginning to reduce within the sector.”
