One of the longest running Christmas Markets in Laois, the Abbeyleix Christmas Market & Craft Fair, returned to its home in the Market Square at the weekend.
Now running for its seventh year, the Christmas Market – which is presented by Abbeyleix Business & Community Development Forum (ABC) launched the festive season and the town’s ‘Shop Local’ campaign.
Building on the successful format of previous years, the market was a hive of activity with lots of entertainment.
Over 30 traders from all over the county and further afield were selling a host of crafts, festive food, treats and Christmas gift ideas.
The large audience of market goers also enjoyed a live entertainment programme throughout the evening.
Magic ensued as street entertainers, fire eaters, old style games, local musicians and choirs took to the street.
Among the many popular features making a welcome return to the market were the switching on of the Christmas lights.
The hardworking Christmas Lights committee and local CE scheme once again pulled out all the stops to ensure that all of trees were dressed and ready to light up the town on the night.
Our photographer Julie Anne Miller was there on the night and she took in the best of the action.
