Seventeen people have died in Laois in the past four years in road accidents.
A total of 446 people were injured and 17 killed on the country’s road between the start of 2013 and the end of 2017 according to a new report.
The 2017 Transport Omnibus report was released by the Central Statistics Office (CSO) office last week, and contains the latest statistics available on road deaths and injuries throughout Ireland.
2014 was by far the worst year for fatal accidents on Laois roads with seven deaths and 150 injured.
The victims were pedestrians, cyclists, motorcyclists and other vehicle users.
2017 only saw one road death, after three in 2016, four in 2015, and two in 2013.
The injuries from 2017 are not listed in the report but figures for previous years show that 105 people were injured in 2016, compared with 96 in 2015 and 95 in 2013.
The report shows that nationally, rush hour in the evenings is the most dangerous time on the roads, as more collisions happened at 5pm than any other time of day.
