These girls and boys from Gaelscoil Phortlaoise are seriously talented.
We headed out to the Portlaoise primary school this afternoon where the kids from second class treated us to their rendition of one of the hit songs from the popular film ‘The Greatest Showman’.
A Million Dreams or ‘A Milliún Smaoineamh’ was recorded by the Ranga Do students who then entered a competition.
Múinteoirí Siobhán, Tomás agus Aisling composed the song by changing the words from English to Gaeilge.
They managed to win first prize in the Bliain na Gaeilge competition and a cheque for €1,000 was presented to them today.
Siomha Ni Ruairc was there to present the money to the group and she, like us, got to listen to the kids perform.
Teacher Siobhan Ní Chroinín explained how it took the kids just two days to learn the song.
She said: “They are very talented and really enjoy music.
“It took them about two days to learn the song and we are thrilled that they went and won.”
