A long period of hard work and fun organised by a Portarlington woman has certainly paid its dividends, with €5,096 being raised for Pieta House.
Laois woman Gail Clear completed in physically immense Gaelforce challenges, as well as holding a Wedding Charity Ball in aid of Pieta House in the Anvil Inn, Portarlington, on Saturday November 10.
The twist in this charity ball is that everyone dressed in wedding attire – whether it be their wedding dresses, bridesmaids dresses or their best Sunday suit.
Pieta House is a mental health organisation very close to Gail’s heart, and she was full of thanks to everyone who got involved and contributed.
“We made €1965 on the night through donations and raffle tickets and have €2631.85 online and some more offline donations bringing our total up to €5096.85.
“I would also like to thank our sponsors on the night, Portarlington Credit Union, Beechfield Healthcare and Unum Ireland as well as all the local businesses who donated the amazing raffle prizes.”
“I am really proud of what we have accomplished this year and if we have helped just one person realise that it’s ok not to be ok, that they are loved, and we are hear to listen at any time of the day or night – then it will all have been worth it.”
There was no stopping Gail as she competed in ten Galeforce events – including mountain runs, cliff runs, adventure challenges, cycling and swims.
The Wedding Charity Ball took place last weekend, with live music from the B Sharps on the night.
If anyone would like to donate they can still do so online here.
