Players from Ballinakill and Abbeyleix at a recent Boxing Fight Night fundraiser organised jointly by the two clubs
Well this looked like serious craic!
Abbeyleix and Ballinakill GAA players had the fight of their lives at the weekend as they faced off in a ‘Scrap Saturday’ for their White Collar Boxing fundraiser.
They swapped hurls for boxing gloves for this night that revealed the men from the boys in the ring.
It all went down in the Castle Arms Hotel, Durrow, with ten fights taking place on the night.
Some high profile bouts were marked for the evening, with a bout being split into three rounds, lasting one minute each.
And of the ten fights, it was a draw on the night as Ballinakill and Abbeyleix won five fights each.
A topless Podge Lawlor got the better of fellow full back Oisin Carroll in probably the fight of the night while the all-county battle was some affair.
But the heavier Cha Dwyer defeated Abbeyleix and Laois keeper Enda Rowland to take the win.
David Bonham, Aaron Carroll, Alan Lynch, Joe Bergin and Tim Bonham took glory for Abbeyleix while Podge Lawlor, Cha Dwyer, Seamus Fitzpatrick, Darragh Gorman and Eddie Dwyer won for Ballinakill.
Alf Harvey was there on the night to capture all of the action as it happened.
