FOUND: Laois couple reunited with glasses lost in London taxi

Well that didn’t take long.

Just over an hour after we posted a story of a pair of glasses lost in a London taxi over the weekend, the owners have been found.

Taxi driver Damien McGee informed us of the great news and he was delighted to have located the owner.

Abbeyleix native Sean Burke and his wife Anna were over in London when they misplaced Sean’s glasses.

Damien said: “I just got a phone call from Sean’s niece and we will make arrangements to get the glasses back to Ireland.

“I couldn’t believe that it happened so fast – just over an hour after you posted the story, I got the phone call.

“It just goes to show the power of social media and the power of your readers.”

Anna and Sean had spent the weekend in London and attended an Andrea Bocelli concert.

The pair were celebrating Sean’s successful hip surgery and their son had purchased them tickets to see the Italian soprano.

But Sean’s glasses were left in Damien’s taxi over the course of the weekend and despite the kind-hearted drivers efforts to track down the couple, he failed and turned to LaoisToday for help.

We are delighted to see a happy outcome here. Fair play to Damien!
