One school in Laois is celebrating two participants in the Science Olympiad finals.
Scoil Chriost Rí had two participants in the Science Olympiad medals at the finals in DCU on Saturday, October 20.
There were 400 Junior Certificate 2018 students invited to participate in the event.
At the IrJSO competition, Transition Year student Asma Zulfiqar was awarded one of three silver medals.
Asma was also named as one of the top six participants that will travel to Botswana on December 1 2018 to participate in the world championships.
Fifth year student Angela Hee was awarded one of three bronze medals and just missed out on attending the world championships.
Vice principal Anne Dollard said: “We can all be very proud of this fantastic achievement in STEM subjects.
“We congratulate them and all of their teachers especially their third year teachers in Science and Maths.”
This incredible announcement marks the start of a very busy Science Week in Laois.
Science week will be in full swing in Laois, with a number of events taking place around the county.
