Timahoe NS gets very spooky for Halloween

Timahoe NS was a scary place to be last Friday as the boys and girls of Scoil Mhuire Fatima dressed up in their scariest costumes for the annual Halloween fancy dress competition.

Witches, vampires, ghosts, zombies and transport inspired costumes were the order of the day as the children really got into the spirit of Halloween.

The event is run in conjunction with the Green School Initiative (Transport) so there were extra points on offer to those who produced transport themed costumes.

The children (and their parents) certainly didn’t disappoint as there were some outstanding pieces on display.

Cardboard boxes, soup cans, plastic bottles, newspapers and baskets were just some of the items that had been transformed into the cleverest of costumes.

Some of the stand-out transport themed costumes included ‘scarehostesses’ by Sarah Keane and Zoe Dunbrell, Virgin Airlines by Aoife Galwey, an army tank by Patrick Bowe, hot air balloons by John Hanley, Emelia Mc Evoy and Adam McDonald, an electric picnic camper van by Ruairi Bowe, an air traffic controller by Aoife Ramsbottom, the zimmer frame grandad from UP by Killian Hendy, a canoe by Aidan McDonald, a London Bus by Lucy Mc Evoy, a jelly belly by Anna Clancy, an injured cyclist by Karen Doyle and even the Titanic by Mark Hanley made an appearance.

Laois GAA kitmen Pat Delaney and Ollie Byrne will be delighted to know that their Laois kit vans were the source of inspiration for Ryan Conlon who produced a brilliant cardboard replica of a kit van.

Huge credit must go to the children and their parents for the enormous effort that went into the costumes.

The children are now enjoying their mid-term break, knowing that they are ready for trick or treating on Halloween tonight.
