A much-loved pub in Mountrath is set to open its doors for the last time this weekend.
‘The Pub’, or ‘Ollie’s’ as it was fondly called, has been in operation on Mountrath’s main street for 16 years since December 21, 2002.
Owners Cora and Ollie Gorman took to Facebook to thank all of their customers, staff and musicians who played there over the years.
On their post, they said: “We’ve made some lifelong friends, had some greats nights and I can truly say that each one has been our pleasure.
“But, it’s time for us to move on now to the next chapter and while we are happy to do so, I know for sure that we will really miss being part of such a fantastic pub.
One last hoorah
As this is ‘The Pub’s’ last weekend, Ollie and Cora are planning to go out with a bang.
On Saturday night there will be music by Pulse, or if Sunday sessions are more your thing, the famous house band of Tank, Sean and co will start the proceedings at 7pm in the top bar.
This will be followed by music from Tadgh Kirwan at 9pm.
“To all of our staff who have worked at The Pub over the years and made such a contribution to its success, thank you so much. To all our suppliers including the many musicians and entertainers that we’ve done business with; we wish you continued success. To the clubs and associations that we’ve worked with down through the years, thank you for your support,” Ollie and Cora added on their Facebook post.
