‘The Town’ received huge praise and acclaim yet again for the second of the three-part documentary series, which aired on Virgin Media One, formerly TV3 last night.
Tweets poured in about the programme, and #thetown began trending nationally on Twitter.
The series, produced by Yvonne Kinsella for Motive TV, followed a number of people based around Portlaoise throughout the autumn and winter of 2017.
The heart-wrenching documentary received huge praise by Twitter users from Laois and further afield.
Those featured on last night’s porgramme were praised for their honesty and hard-work, and a lot of very important issued were raised.
Support for Portlaoise hospital
Portlaoise hospital was the main issue of the night, with all those involved, including Father Paddy, Rose Maher and Anthony Knowles, Noel and Marie Tuohy and even our own Steven Miller highlighting the importance of the local hospital in its entirety.
The programme also introduced Dubliner Nikita who, after growing up in care homes, moved to Portlaoise in her teens and now lodges with her ex-partner’s parents.
Next week the documentary takes a look at the lives of two people involved in the Irish Defence Forces, Mary-Claire’s parents hopes of alternative treatment and other issues involving people living in Portlaoise and the townslands around it.
