It was a manic weekend of hurling action in Laois – with nine games down for decision around the county, across four grades and at semi-final, quarter-final and the relegation stages.
In our new twice-weekly GAA podcast we looked back on the action this morning where presenter Brian Moss was joined by Castlecomer native and former Clough-Ballacolla and Borris-Kilcotton manager Tommy Buggy as well Steven Miller and Alan Hartnett from LaoisToday.
We looked back on two one-sided Laois SHC quarter-finals with Tommy Buggy saying that there was still plenty for Eddie Brennan to take from the game – as well as highlighting some potential future county men who haven’t played at that level yet.
Discussing the Senior ‘A’ quarter-finals, we spoke of the importance of hurling in Portlaoise even if it doesn’t mean championship success this year and why the likely winner in this grade is going to come from the Rosenallis-The Harps semi-final.
Down through the grades, we looked at Slieve Bloom’s march to the intermediate final, Mountmellick’s quest for back-to-back championship successes.
All of that plus Steven getting a few things off his chest – from the naming of championships, club hurling rankings and lads getting out of the dressing room as quickly as they can.
You can listen to all of the Podcast below. We will return with a football-focused Podcast on Friday when we will be looking ahead to the Laois SFC quarter-finals, IFC and JFC semi-finals and we’ll have Siun Lennon back from a well-deserved day off to look back on the weekend’s ladies football finals.
