Two Portlaoise students lit up the Grand Canal with some very colourful costumes yesterday.
Scoil Chríost Rí students Tammy Wright & Tierna Byrne brought their Junk Kouture creation ‘Colour Bomb’ to the busy canal to help launch this year’s Junk Kouture.
The two fifth year students were regional winners of last year’s competition and were joined by very special guests to launch the national competition.

Tammy and Tierna got to help launch the competition with Spin1038 presenter and social media favourite Doireann Garrihy and former Ex-factor judge Louis Walsh.
A number of Laois schools have been heavily involved in the ‘Junk Kouture’ competition in recent years.
Students are asked to come up with creations from items which are all recyclable.
The Bank of Ireland sponsored competition describes itself as being a project, ‘which takes elements such as fashion, design, engineering and environmental sustainability, and transforms them into a creative contest like no other’.
