Huge praise and acclaim came for the first of the three-part documentary series ‘The Town’, which aired on Virgin Media One, formerly TV3 last night.
Tweets poured in about the programme, and #thetown began trending nationally on Twitter.
The series, produced by Yvonne Kinsella for Motive TV, followed a number of people based around Portlaoise throughout the autumn and winter of 2017.
The heart-wrenching documentary received huge praise by Twitter users from Laois and further afield.
Those featured on last night’s porgramme were praised for their honesty and hard-work, and a lot of very important issued were raised.
These included mental health, suicide, life-threatening illnesses and working hard to support those you love.
Among those featured were Richie Reid and Julieka Cahill, Rose Maher, Yvonne and Sean Comerford, Christy Bannon and Noel and Marie Tuohy.
Next week the documentary takes a look at residents fighting against downgrades to Portlaoise hospital and Laois’s most well-known priest Father Paddy Byrne.
Incredibly powerful, difficult, inspiring, moving, poignant piece tonight with Richie & Julieka on #TheTown

Proof you’ll walk past a friendly face in town, throw them a wave and a smile and not have a clue of the extent of what’s going on in their life #TheTown
