High drama ensued in Laois last night, as a horse and her foal were dramatically saved in a rescue attempt that took hours on August 29.
The mother and foal were trapped in a river in Tankardstown near the Kildare border. Three fire crews, the Gardaí, local residents and a horse charity were all involved in saving them.
At 10pm last night, the My Lovely Horse Rescue team tweeted searching for help with the rescue.

Lucky we had people at Electric Picnic set up in Stradbally who were able to attend,” My Lovely Horse rescue tweeted.
My Lovely Horse Rescue will be attending this year’s Electric Picnic and will provide information on what they do at the music and arts festival.
They are a volunteer group that rescues, rehabilitates, retrains and re-homes horses and donkeys. They also lobby for equine welfare in Ireland.
