Emergency services had to deal with the second fire in two days on the motorway in Laois.
The fire happened between Junction 15 Ballybrittas and Junction 16 Portlaoise East just before 12 noon on Friday.
The incident was quickly dealt with and no road closures or diversions were put in place. Caution was advised in the area as smoke may have affected visibility for motorists.

This comes after a vehicle was on fire on the M7 outside Portlaoise at the toll bridge yesterday evening which caused traffic delays as the road was down to one lane southbound for a time
